About the Artist

Kat'sCrafts.com is run by Kat Hardi. A multimedia artist; focusing on ceramics, sculpture, and metalsmithing. Growing up in the DFW area, and spending lots of time outside and reading- Kat lets that influence their work and sense of play.
"Through my work I like to convey a playful natural elegance. Often, I focus on topics like femineity, the climate, and personal issues. I use my work as a way to process life. Whatever I am going through is usually present in my work. Everything about my work is intentional; how smoothed out the surface is, how many feathers on a bird, the flowers chosen to decorate a piece. Epically when using flower motifs in my work I find it easy to convey what a piece means to me. Was I mourning a loss or celebrating friendship- it can all be said with flowers. In ceramics I like to focus on surface design. Whether that be smoothing out the surface and using underglazes to create a design or creating texture by manipulating the clay. I am drawn towards creating fine line designs on my work. Even across my metalsmithing work, sculpture, and basketry; ladybug bolo ties, tree and shell baskets, oyster clutches, wooden body boxes. My work is very organic in theme, usually depicting animals or nature."
